I can't believe how far you east guys will travel to come shoot a goat! Come to Wyoming and spend your money, we love it.

All I ask is be respectful, show the animals respect, and be greatfull! To often the non-res hunters come in and make very bad ethical decisions on hunting. Don't come to our state disrespect our resources, then wonder why you receive disrespect.

i am not a big fan of eastern plates in our hunting grounds. There is no ethical respect!!!!!

Boy ShepDog, you're painting non-residents with a pretty wide brush there. In my experience, the residents are the ones with no respect for the resources. This past year I turned in a resident who knowingly shot a Cow Moose with a calf at it's side. Talk about disrespect. The good news is that the wardens caught the creep at a check station. Most of the non-residents I've seen hunt harder for their game and by and large are more successful than the resident road hunters that I see. Tone down the rhetoric, the non-residents pay most of the freight to our G&F department. JMO

Yea, those darn NR. That's why I keep seeing the Game dept noting their resident poacher arrests in the dept emails.

Yea ShlepDog, thats right, make it about resident vs non-resident. Don't worry about non-hunters views of hunting, or feed the anti-hunters red meat (I thought that was funny). Why don't you expend your energies improving the environment we have to deal in, literally and figuratively. Try making a positive influence on game management, habitat conservation, and hunting ethics for everyone. By the way, are federal lands in any state not supported by federal tax dollars, last time I looked I was paying federal taxes, I would imagine you are too. By your reasoning you shouldn't be entitled to participate in any activity outside your county or even township because your not a resident of any other county or township.

What difference does it make how far some one is willing to travel to enjoy their sport as long as they feel it is worth it to them. Like WapitiBob has said, good luck with your game management without the non-resident money the Game and Fish takes in.

Slob hunters are everywhere unfortunately, thankfully they are a small minority in my experience. People with myopic views are much more dangerous, they destroy from within.

Lastly, I've been to many states out west, including multiple times to Wyoming, and nearly every Canadian Province, my experience has been that people everywhere are the same. They all want to be treated with kindness , dignity, and respect.

Try living by the Golden Rule and you will probably be more content and less contemptuous.

Easy Shepdog..... Shoot is right on with his post.

There are slob hunters all over, it's not a Res v. NR issue . . .
At least someone gets it. I don't drive 32hrs to start problems with anyone. I park my truck and hunt. I don't road hunt. Slobs hunters are slobs no matter what state they come from

My apologies for sounding so brash towards non-residents. I have had some negative experiences in the past and they have all been with people from eastern US. ie, PA, NY, MN etc. that really was my comment.
I agree, resident hunters can be the worst.
Let me say this, if WE ALL were mindful of the animals and fellow hunters, WE ALL would be more successful.
Respect what God gave to all of us.

I have had and seen more problems from area residents, regardless of state, probably only because there are usually more resident tags in an area. Jerks are jerks and are not isolated to just a few states. Sure, NR's can be an issue, anyone can be an issue, not just folks from a few states, like you mentioned. I think you should be very careful indicting hunters in a state, based on the behavior of a few you have encountered. Rail against illegal and unethical behavior, regardless of residency status and you'll have my support and that of most ethical hunters.

Ive taken 6 and 7 guys before and shoot a average of 14" goats for everyone, it can be done easily. We hunt eastern WY. Every year we tag out on opening day on public land and we are from Missouri. Don't over think it, antelope hunting is much easier than you would think. Just be practiced at shooting around 250 yards.

Well I've been trying to kill one here in Virginia for the last 20 years but I keep coming up short. I was deciding between Wyoming or northern Alaska but Wyoming is a bit closer.

Don't worry though, I've only been dreaming of this trip since I was 11 and my dad made the trip to Colorado. So I fully intend on causing as much trouble as I can. That's why I'm selling my 4wheeler, to pay off my fines or post bail. And don't worry about our out of state plates, I intend on stealing some Wyoming plates for my truck to put residents at ease.

That's because those states have the most hunters per square mile for population. We all owe it to teach, educate and enjoy the outdoors. East or West. We also have a duty to step in and correct when we see something wrong happening out in the field.

That's in reference to the PA/NY comment.

50bowhunter, planning a hunt and filling everyone's expectations and investment is not easy. I honestly wish you and your team the best of luck. It has been said many times, family, friends and memories. I have no doubt you guys will not only be successful but, Wyoming landscapes and wildlife always make memories.
I have no advice on location and units however, look for an antelopes prong. If the prong is above the ear, it is generally a buck worth going for. Don't shoot the first goat you see and have fun!

That's awesome! It would be great if everyone came back with something. We'll definitely be doing some 250-500 yard shooting over the summer and we'll be getting in shape to put some serious miles on. It might be crazy driving 28 hours to WY just to shoot a speed goat/mule deer but if you always dream about it and never do anything you'll just be stuck at home watching the sportsman's channel wishing you were out there doing what they do.
