I think a fair number...but at $600 for a resident tag and $6,000 for a NR tag, I bet that will thin the applicants pretty fast.

For a NR that doesn't have a Resident that could take them into the Wilderness...a WY griz hunt is going to be 20K all in by the time you have that griz rug on the floor.

Thank GOD the NA model doesn't put a monetary value to wildlife.....

And who is the state of Wyoming? It's made up of people who are A subset of the public that "owns" the wildlife.....

You're endlessly confused, the people of Wyoming don't "own" the wildlife here...

The State holds wildlife in trust for the people of the State...again, huge difference.

Sure I am.
You criticize wildlife management in Africa,a place you've never been. And claim the NA model to be so vastly different and better. When in fact they are much closer than apart.
You lamented people who game the tag system. Yet turn a blind eye to those gaming access for monetary gain.
Fact is Buzz , hunting is a 25 billion dollar industry.
With individuals placing monetary value on wildlife every day.
Wether it's Turner ranch's $14,000 bull elk value.
Or a Wyoming landowner charging $x for doe antelope or $x for a buck antelope.
Hell places in Texas , deer are like buying a burger at McDonalds
Hamburger (130" buck) $x
Cheeseburger (140" buck) $x+
Quarter pounder (150" buck) $x++
Big Mac ( 160" buck) $x+++

As landowners realize the monetary value of wildlife,hunting on a handshake is ending. Supply is far below demand. And every year we lose more access.

What has happened east and south of you is headed to Wyoming. The genie is out of the bottle and you can't stop it. Sure you and I may be dead , but it is coming . The changes are already there.

There are many grizzlies outside of wilderness areas...i went to one of the grizzly meetings recently.. with the model they were talking about using to determine hunting.. last year there would have been about 12 total tags given out. Still a long ways to go, but I sure hope to at least have the chance to put in for one someday soon

The draw odds are going to be really bad. Does anyone know if there is talk of preference points? What areas are being discussed for hunting?

I just don't see how a preference point system would work with such high demand. Unless you got in on the ground floor you'd have virtually no chance to draw. Oh wait......I forgot about sheep and moose.

No disrespect intended to you Micah S. I was just trying to make a point about you never know what politicians will do even if it defies logic. Maybe they will see the dead end the moose/sheep draws are and take a bison/Mtn goat approach of random draw.

Or even better a bonus point system where you get your name in the hat 1 time for every year you put in, but never guaranteed a tag.

That should get a good debate going. We haven't had one in a while! :rolleyes:
