I'm getting ready to head to WY to hunt mule deer with my Dad, Sister, and her boyfriend. Was just looking for any help from anybody that has hunted this area or general help for WY mule deer. We will mostly be hunting unit 40 as that is where we decided the country looked the best and had a good amount of public land. We have scouted using google earth and BLM maps and decided to camp around unit 40 so will probably hunt there mostly so we don't waste too much time driving. I've tried to call the biologist in the area and I probably waited too long as he is busy with the season underway. Has anyone had any luck yet since the season has been open in some of the areas in Region M? Will the mule deer be in the thick timber or at the base of the Bighorns or can good deer be found in the more arid open terrain, like creek draws.

Hey brother, just went returned from Wyoming. Stopped in your town of Bellevue and picked up my son who works for Chrysler. He's the only one who didn't eat a tag. My advice is to hook up with someone who really cares about your sucess. I have found that most people nowadays dont give a rip about anyone but themselves. If you come to Michigan to hunt, I will personally put you in the best hunting spot I know. I have found that kind of treatment lacking in Montana,Wyoming, and Washington D.C.......God Bless

Thanks for the advice Eberle. Out of 5 tags we only filled one with a buck. The weather was great but the bucks were hiding good and were only out for about an hour first thing in the morning. We were eating breakfast most days till we found thats when they were moving. Saw alfalfa fields that held 100 deer but not a single good buck until after sunset. The nice buck we did get I let my dad shoot as he has been wanting a nice mulie for quite some time. Figured I would pay him back for all the times he took me hunting. He shot a beautiful 170" 4x4! We got lucky as I spotted him only 50 yrds off the road not a mile from camp when we were driving out to start hunting early one morning. My dad got out of the truck and was able to sneak up on him and shot him in his bed. Cant believe how lucky we got.
