The Bonecollector will be doing just that!
Congrats to everyone who drew. To those who did not, there is plenty of time to come up with a new plan. This is the great thing about the early draw for WY Elk.

Didn't get drawn for reduced cow/calf, unit 9. Starting plan B....combo archery Mule/rifle antelope. Hoping for enough PP next year to draw general elk tag.

i also saw that!! crazy!! also looks like people in the special burned 9,7, and 6 points on general!! that is a bit of wasted money...
Perhaps they have some private land to hunt in a general area and it's this year or none. Lots of reasons someone might burn those PP on a general tag . Many nice bulls comes out of general areas every year here.
It does make the PP game interesting though to see them go that route.

This may be the year that finally tips the scales and the early draw goes away. Drawing a unit 41 or 45 type 1 license and planning on archery hunting, just to find out 2 months later, the option is not available, isn't going to sit well. Those people drew a license for a Commission approved hunt and Commission approved special archery seasons.

Thanks for the comforting words. My new plan? Successfully draw WY pronghorn and also OR mule deer, elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, mountain goat, and antlerless deer. I see no reason why this plan will fail. ;)

My son got unit 98, his last junior year. We are planning to hunt last couple days of archery season and first days of rifle if we don't get anything during archery. I have done some research but have never been at that unit and would really appreciate if somebody would be willing to help. Please feel free to pm me.

What are you talking 'bout Bob? I got a rifle elk tag so and not in the units mentioned...
Also, unless you have a friend in the WY F&G, no one knew the results this year....

Proposed 2018 rules eliminate special archery season on a type 1 license in 41 and 45.

"Also, unless you have a friend in the WY F&G, no one knew the results this year...."

Whether you believe me is of no concern. I'm out, a cpl friends have the info, and the dept will eventually close the hole.

All I know is it was harder this year than last year to draw a non-res cow tag in the units I like. My goodness! [emoji38]

Hard to get too upset when the odds are that long. [emoji2]

Congrats to all who drew!

Now, if I can just think of a way to get a thread started on WY non-res 2nd choice antelope options (so I can hunt and not burn points) without being lectured about how "the OP neglected to read that he selected an * unit"...[emoji6]

I hear ya. LOTS of threads, some with decent info, going back 10 yrs or more, all across the hunting cyberspace; unf many also turned into a lecture podium of sorts for some hunting forum celebrities-hence my jab. [emoji6]

Still, things can and do change-so not bad to revisit units and access issues-but antelope is another section of the forum.

Anyhow, my dilemma with antelope is with 2 pts I could draw a number of units with reasonable access-but lesser trophy potential-in the pref point draw-and lose my points-that I'd like to save for a better unit-but I really want to hunt this fall too.

There aren't enough tags in the random portion of the draw in a stretch unit for me to realistically expect to get a tag, and, anything interesting as a 2nd choice for me would be draw by the 1st choice random guys a tier below me.

I'm sorta in a no-man's land with antelope options. I'm also too cheap to pay a trespass fee or for the special tag. I know, know, you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit. [emoji23]

I have some ideas. We'll see what happens.

I wish theyd do the resident draw and the nonresident draw at the same time. It sucks waiting until June to find out.
