I drew an area 118 deer tag. I was agonizing using my three points on G,H or 118. I looked at area 89 but 3 points wouldn't get me a tag there. I talked to the biologist before I applied and he said it was not as good an area as it was in the past but there were a few good bucks around if I hunted hard. I'd be real happy with a buck in the 160's. Is this possible in this unit? I plan to hunt the walk in areas hard if I have to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I talked to the area 118 biologist last week. He said the fawn count and anteler growth were better than expected. He also said a 24-25 inch wide buck was probably top end for this area. Like to get some fed back from hunters that have hunted this area in the last few years. Any info would be greatly appreciated .

Not alot of info about 118 out there. Never hunted it myself, but it is one of the units I am considering for next year. Info from the bio sounds favorable, maybe numbers are on the increase in this area. Did you get a permission slip for the HMA? Looks to cover a large area of the unit, and provides some access to the higher elevations. Good luck in on your hunt!!

I have a buddy that hunted it 2 years ago and he wasn't impressed. Three guys went and they killed the three biggest bucks they saw. The biggest was a 19 inch 4x4 that was really heavy. Score's in the 140's. He said he would'nt go back.
