Hey all, I am new to this whole forum thing. Anyway, my name is Blake and I am a student at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. I have wanted to elk hunt in Idaho for quite some time, and have finally budgeted to fit that into my schedule. I will be hunting with a Hoyt Pro Defiant Turbo. I am not asking for your honey hole by any means, but i would like to see if anyone had any guidance so I could go and scout for myself.

Thank You!

My suggestion would be to look through the draw odds and success rates for various zones in Idaho via the Idaho F&G website and try to determine a few areas that seem interesting to you. Research those specific areas and then determine which one holds the most interest for you, and focus on learning everything you can about that zone. You?ll have picked a spot and if you find the time may even be able to take a scouting trip. Learn the lay of the land and plan your hunt based on that. If you end up not liking what you see, you?ll have a better idea for the next years hunt on where you DON?T want to go. You can only rely on tips from the internet for very general questions to be answered..YOU will have to determine the detailed plan for your hunt.

check the areas around potlatch, also the whitepine campground area typically has been decent in the past. You are very close to decent elk hunting. you shouldn't need to draw or anything like that. just buy a tag and go hunting.

long story short, there is a lot of elk hunting on the bovill run.
wsu students will understand that statement.
