I have a question: my pops is 73 and has had a very rough life. 6'4 and is a beast of a man and while growing up he was a damn mountain goat. It always amazed me to watch him trek up a mountain. Hunting was in his blood and he passed the obsession on to all 6 of his sons. In 1997 he suffered a major heart attack that we are all amazed he came back from, but it took his toll on him. We have to keep a close eye on him because he still tries doing what he used to and he just can't and its extremely hard on him. We still manage to get him out and are able to push deer his direction but elk hunting is dad. Dad is elk hunting. He hasn't been able to Do a real elk hunt since 1997. His health is taking a toll and I was wondering if there are any services that cater to these kind of situations. He is a Veitnam vet who was a sole survivor in a tank versus mine and spent 6 months in comma afterwards. He deals with flare ups from agent orange. Any info would be appreciated. Don't ask him to hike much because he will.

Does he belong to any vet groups? VFW, Dav, etc? A lot of them are sources for disabled vets that organizations use for disabled vet hunts. Safari Club does a lot of them too.

Check with your local conservation groups, RMEF, NWTF, DU, etc. Every year, our NWTF chapter puts together a Vet turkey hunt and a youth waterfowl hunt, it's always a bunch of fun.
Lots of folks out there that will offer up their private ground for causes like this, and in my opinion, the best way to find them is through conservation groups.. Lends a bunch of credibility to the cause.

There is a hunting with heroes group in Casper. I don’t really know much other than what’s on their website. Wyoming does a five day on either side of the season extension for 100% disabled vets. You have to apply for it, if that helps.
