I watched a movie where you were supposed to shoot a large animal, gut it and climb inside the carcass. I suppose you could drag a sleeping bag inside too.;)

I suppose these guys are the experts and have tested the alternative methods, BUT, I would not want to get everything that I need to rewarm myself to get wet by layering up and then getting in my bag before removing the wet clothes. We had a bud go through the ice on a snowmobile trip, and after we quickly got him out of the water (luckily it was shallow), we stripped him down while everyone donated some clothing, he was rubbed down quickly with a towel, then redressed in less than a minute. His boot packs couldn't be replaced, but they were just dumped out and they rewarmed quickly. We were back to snowmobiling for the rest of the day, and he made no complaints even though it was below zero. Things will certainly change if you are alone or don't have other gear with you.

I was very impressed by how the water was drawn all the way to the outer layers and beaded up on the outer shell.

I sure hope I don't ever have to test my system.

the video was a very informative ad. Any decent layering system would do the same thing. layering system do not need to be matching camo clothes. Year round mountain people have known this for decades.

in the early 90's on a very rainy caribou float hunt, I used my sleeping bag to dry out some clothes. It was getting old putting on wet clothes when you first wake up. in the late 80's at college, we where white water rafting in early april. still snow on the ground and a guy took a very long swim. once we got him out of the water,we went on a jog, to warm him up from the inside out. Another time on a week long float trip, I made this lady drink hot water until she could feel herself again. she was starting to slip into hypothermia.

there are a lot of ways to rewarm yourself after getting wet. There is no one cure all. I will say the video will help hunters, who only go in the mountains during hunting season.
