Wyoming's wolf hunting got shut down again! If you look on the wyoming game and fish website it has more details.

Don't know any but you need to look up foundationforwildlifemanagement.org to help with the budget. It's a good group of guys in North Idaho that realized pretty quick that to put any dent in wolf numbers they needed some help due to the crazy costs involved especially for the serious trappers. In a nut shell you pay $35 to join and they will reimburse you for costs up to $500 per wolf. Right now it's only for Idaho and I think Dec 1st through end of the season.

Anyone still reading this post, you might want to try south valley, Idaho unit 47. Just west of Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir in the canyons above the bench along Monument Springs Rd. There is a pretty good amount of mule deer along those canyons. I was just there this week looking for Elk (none found) but saw plenty of deer and at night heard a lot of wolves chatting it up. I saw one lone wolf one morning but I didn't have a tag for wolf so had to let him live. Also saw a bobcat while there. Good luck to anyone looking for wolves... they wreak havoc on the deer and elk population, they are growing in number in Idaho.

I am headed into the deer camp tomorrow, as the Minnesota season starts on Saturday. There are almost no deer up here after two brutal winters, but one of the guys has a wolf tag and is hoping for a chance at one. The vast majority of NE MN is public land, and having a place to hunt is not the problem. I would consider a wolf purely as an opportunity hunt because I live in the woods but have only spotted a few when I wasn't in a vehicle, and had no opportunity to shoot even if I had a tag. I hope to do my part on predator control on a lion hunt in Wyoming next month.

Had plans to hunt for coyotes/wolves in Wyoming in January but unless something changes in the federal laws looks like the wolves get a free pass. Just might have to head on over to Idaho. Wolf kill is pretty high on my bucket list.
