Since I drew 0 tags this year I'm living vicariously through those of you who will be hunting big game this year.
Who is going to be the first one to post pics of their NV big game?
Good luck to you all on your hunts.

Here's my story from Monday.

Daughter and I had been sitting in the blind for a couple days after seeing nothing. A group came in finally. They had come in once during the month that I had game cameras set up. Only had the one little herd buck with them.

My daughter and I both had tags. They came in to the left of the blind to the water. Daughter took a 35 yard shot but sailed the arrow over it's back(buck fever). It would have been her first animal.

They moved out back to the left of the blind but circled around to the back side of the water. I changed the windows to the blind so I attempt a shot. The noise was making them nervous and the started to head out. I got a quick range at 51 yards. All I remeber is finding my 55 yard pin, then hearing the thud/smack of the arrow hitting his ribs. I swear I could see a blood stain start behind his shoulder as he ran away, but it was only a quick glimpse before the terrain blocked my view.

We waited a couple minutes and retrieved her arrow. Waited a few more and started to look for mine. Couldn't find it. Started to zig-zag along the path I though he took looking for any sign of blood. No blood anywhere. Started to question everything I had thought I heard, saw and felt. Getting worried.

We went back to where we thought he was hit and started looking in the thicker grass. My daughter found the arrow, but didn't want to pick it up. It was covered in BLOOD!!! What a great sign, but still worried about not seeing any blood on the ground.

We decided to spread apart by about 20 feet and walk along the direction they were headed. We went only about 50 feet beyond where we had looked previously and I found him down in the tall grass. He had only made it 200 feet from where we found the arrow!

That was the longest 25 minutes of my life.

My first hunt of the year didnt go well. 067-068 doe antelope tag from the first draw ran to battle mounian the night before season dry camp in the truck bed just me and my son. Opening day hunted the water holes i had found on google earth found nothing but deer sign and lots of yotes. Spent the middle part of the day checking other areas and tried to head to willow creek got to the middle of no where when the u bolts borke on the trailer springs. Sat in the middle of the burn for 24 hours till my son in law brought parts from Reno. Fixed trailer mostly had a tire rubbing so headed home past Midas and at least saw some antelope. However by the time we double checked maps to make sure they were in the correct unit they had left the country. I did get a nice 2 mile hike in looking for them tho. Now waitng for a buddies cow hunt, things have got to go better. At least i got to be out for a couple of days.

Just spent 4 days there myself. They were very tough to come by this year. We got one out of 4 tags. The doe we did get was out of the small group I got my archery buck last month. We didn't find any in our usual spots (dad has drawn this tag 4 years in a row).

I'm willing to bet the ones you saw past Midas were in unit 066. There's always a few scattered on the north side of the road south of Jake Creek mountain.

When I read it, my brain told me that you were West of Midas and the antelope you saw were the ones I see all the time in 066.

Now I understand that you were just past Midas to the East
