Iam, heading up on my pronghorn hunt in the whitehosre unit. my friend said he wasnt seeing much, he is hunting the south part of the unit. With the dry conditions is there any places a person would be better off hunting . I was thinking up by rome ,but not sure if that area holds many antelope. Any suggestion would be greatly be apperciated.

Sorry I'm not much help, the only time I've been in that area it was November, I dont recall seeing much if any antelope. Find the water you will find the antelope though. Hope some one else has something for you. Good luck!

On My Nevada 'lope hunt I found that the springs are labeled well on the Mytopo maps.

When you find a spring or water trough you can't see from a road, pretty good chance there is an antelope on it.

wow talk about a tuff hunt , We seen about the same amount of bighorn sheep as pronghorn . This unit is in bad shape for antelpoe . I remeber a few years back they where all over . The locals clamed the fire from two years ago pushed them out and they never came back. I belive it. There was good water in all the stock ponds, and good feed. If you seen 4-10 antelpoe a day you where lucky and that would be any antelope. One lonley doe deer was seen on a alfafa field. The bighorns where doing great and seen them dailey .
I did meet some great guys from oregon and was invited to hunt a alfafa field on the last evening and scored on a buck, not the biggest but will for sure do for what we seen . his a 14 inch real pretty shape to his horn buck. My son got to see it and that made it all worth it to me . thanks you oregon for letting us came injoy your state again. What a great state and great people .
