Which GPS are you using? I need to buy a new one!

Just like some of the scopes with built-in rangefinders. What are your thoughts?

Scopes with rangefinders illegal? First I've heard that. Which state has that reg?

My mistake, I meant the scopes with built in rangefinders and automatically compensates for your distance. Pretty sure Montana does not allow them.

Last year in MT the Fish and Game was discussing rules with our hunting party. They were pretty clear that any means of using radios to communicate that aids in getting an animal is illegal. I see that with the Rino's you can text. So I was wondering if there is any talk out there that these one day could be banned for hunting? Just like some of the scopes with built-in rangefinders. What are your thoughts?

I won't say it doesn't give you an edge to know where your hunting partners are, but you still have to make a well thought out plan and execute the plan to be successful. We will share waypoints like "beds", but I can't say that we have ever sent a waypoint pin pointing an animal. That does start to sound fishy. The exception to this is a downed animal, but like everyone should, we use predetermined code words for that. Sharing a static waypoint like a rub or a bedding area isn't anything that can't be done at a mid day break on top of a ridge comparing maps. That is all part of good hunting. We have all weighed in on some of these questions on other threads.

I just checked this years regs on scopes and couldn't find anything. Maybe it changed or the fish and game guy told us the wrong information. I didn't have a scope like that anyways.... Anyhow...

As far as GPS regs go, I was just curious. Nobody ever knows what kind of rules may come out, as ridiculous as it sounds.

We picked up 3 garmin 650 rino so I can keep track of my dad an cuz also has 2 way built in havnt figured them out all the way yet

I am heading to cabelas tomorrow to look at the Oregon 550. $199 there right now. Seems like a great price!

Thats an excellent price, I paid over $400 for mine a year ago....I bougt the 550t, its a great unit and use it all the time.

I went with the Garmin Etrex 20. Its cheap and easy to use.
