Where to Shop?

I am looking for First Lite, Kuiu, Kifaru etc. type brands, and want to know where everybody goes to do their shopping and buying? Does Cabelas or Bass Pro have anything in store to try on?

In particular I am looking for a First Lite Uncompahgre Puffy Jacket, XL, Realtree Max-1. Nowhere online have I found that has one in stock.

Am also in the market for base layers and rain layer.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Take a look at S&S Archery. sandsarchery.com Steve is a nice guy if you call him and he occasionally runs some good sales. I've bought First Lite stuff from him but I don't think he has Kifaru or Kuiu.

I do most shopping online, occasionally I will buy gear from Sportsmans Warehouse. Check out camofire if you haven't already. I have seen good prices on Sitka gear and Kryptek. I mainly buy "mid tier" clothing like russel from camofire. You can only buy KUIU from KUIU's website.

For baselayers, I use the merino wool blend base layers from Costco. They are inexpensive and work great. I also like Kuius base layer top but I mainly use it as an outer layer during the archery season. I do not have any Kuiu bottom base layers, yet. You can't go wrong with first lite base layers either.

This year I bought a new backpack from Mystery Ranch. I drove down to Bozeman, MT to try on Mystery Ranch and Stone Glacier packs. One of these days I would like to go Kifaru and Kuiu to try some their stuff. Bozeman is not that far away from where I live so I tried those companies first.

1 Shot gear carries Kifaru, First Lite, and Sitka. Give them a call, Grant and Alex are good people to work with.

I do all my shopping at sportsman's warehouse. Started following camo fire and they have some good deals fairly often on there. I've only purchased some Sitka and Under Armour but decided to make the switch to Kuiu. I do not have a high end backpack so that will probably be the next big purchase for hunting season

I second Black Ovis. I have used them a few times. Great customer service and if you have to return something they are easy to work with. I also frequent Sportsman's warehouse but they are usually more expensive then online retailers.

Keep in mind that many of these specialty type manufactures are probably getting close to releasing their new gear, so they may have sold out of last years stock in anticipation for that, meaning that may be why you are having a hard time locating stuff that isn't sold out.

Also, don't know your story but many places offer discounted deals for industry specialists, and government type employees, so if that fits, it can make a huge difference in the shopping cart.

Bingo,
Several of the manufactures won't have their new stuff out till June/July...which means lots of retailers wont be seeing their large shipment till then.

Camofire and Black Ovis are great places for the occasional steal. Also, don't discount websites like SteepandCheap or TheClymb for top-notch (better than hunting company gear...gasp!!!) merino gear that is catered more towards backpackers. Usually cheaper and if you can find some drab colors, it's often light years cheaper for as good and usually better quality gear.
