Where to find muleys in strong winds

I am headed to Wyoming tomorrow for a muley hunt. I see that the forecast shows 3 days of 20-30mph winds with gusts to 40 while I am there. A couple days of this windy time show low 50's for highs and upper 20's for lows with a 30-60% chance of rain. Any tips on where or how to hunt muleys with the wind blowing this hard. I am already running through country we saw on our quick scouting trip in my mind that would offer shelter from a West or SW wind.

Thanks for your help.

Same scenario in NW Colorado 10 days ago for a 3 day stretch of 25+ knot winds.....we found them at the bottom of draws at the aspen/conifer transition zone. I'm not familiar with the Wyoming terrain.

Look for the spots out of the wind, like sneakypete says, they will find rocks hills etc to get out of it if it's strong wind. 20 mph here is not much, if you get 40 mph they will hide.

In the mountains/hills, more open hillsides about 1/3 from the top on the downwind side are where I've found them feeding and sometimes bedding. Just depends on how bad the wind is rocking the trees and if it is knocking branches and stuff off. They can head for the bottom too. In the more open BLM, I've often found them bedding in the bottom of dry creek beds and associated draws, which can make deer hunting more akin to jump shooting quail if you are not careful.

What I have noticed, if you have a 2-3 day blow hard enough to impact their normal feeding and movememt patterns, a couple hours after it stops, deer tend to pop up all over. Especially if it stops or significantly moderates a couple hours before sun rise or set. Good luck!

I have hunted WY/MT for 6 years and 20mph is a calm day it seems like!
In BLM country they seem to just find where ever that is out of the wind. My buddy killed his first muley with me in the foot hills of the Big Horns and the wind was kicking butt, like 40mph gust. We found his deer standing on a ridge with his face to the wind and ears flapping. Caught us totally off guard too. Not expecting that deer to be so exposed.

Just got back, we drove straight through and it's nearly 3am. We both got bucks we were happy with, I have some pics up in my album under my profile. I'll tell the story later after some sleep!

Thanks, we had lots of ups and downs but it ended up a great hunt. Memories I'll have forever. I put the story up just now under a new thread.
