where to camp unit 61

hey guys, i have a deer tag for unit 61.I am bringing my extra large tent trailer and am looking to camp where I can hunt close I lost my rt leg but can walk ok. Any help Thanks

Depending on how the weather holds out and assuming you are talking 3rd season, the Divide Road on top of the plateau offers numerous locations for camping (Pretty flat on top). The area is huge and countless roads throughout so depending on what part of the unit you are planning on hunting there shouldn't be a shortage of places to find in the National Forest or BLM.

Lots of spots near lake john and all over inDependence mountain as well. Just left from second rifle elk season in that unit. Saw tons of mulies and very few elk.

We drove the entire Divide road from the north end to the south end. There are numerous campsites along this 70 mile (or so) road.

I'd camp somewhere you can cover some country. I would be hunting the heavy oakbrush areas where it meets the p/j country.

I would stick around the middle of the unit south towards Nucla and Naturita.
