Copy that! I rarely work over 11, Monday was a unusual situation. I know what you mean about not being able to wait, even though I get paid by the hour I'm there to get the job done.

I'm 31 and my knees are shot.... I have a hard time with downhill and uphill climbing...

Got caught in a crouched position by a doe 2 years ago and stayed in that position frozen too long and tore something in my knees....

Its bad...at the end of an all day hunt I can hardly walk...

MM I feel for you. There were a few years there that I thought I wouldn't be able to do things I did when I was younger. My health was poor and body was telling my to stop. I found a good Doc that set me on the right track. Had a few things fixed and started on a preventive fitness program for some issues. Now I actually feel better than I did when I was in my 40s. Don't give up man you can get close to where you once were!! And thank you for your service!!

I think a lot of us are starting to feel the same way. I know that I have had multiple health issues this year, I have been to the doctor more this year than in the previous 25 years. My body doesn't handle things the same way that it used to, even though I have stayed in pretty good shape. I am trying to adjust and be okay with dialing things back to a more manageable level. I think that physically I'll be okay, but as you pointed out, the mental part may be even tougher. Hopefully you will soon be sitting on the side of a mountain and a lot of these problems won't seem so bad. I had rather limit myself to a mile or two in the mountains than to be perfectly healthy in front of a television. Good luck this year, and to the guys still out there in your 70's, you have my ultimate respect!

One thing you could try is yoga, I'm sure coming from a girl it sounds silly but it really helps if your consistent in going a few timea a week. If you can stand the heat hot yoga feels like death but days afterwards you'll feel like a new person! It works great

Like Timber Im there to get the job done. Weather Im there 8 hours or 18 hours and no matter how bad it hurts it will get done. Alot of things with farming have to be done within a certin time frame no matter what it takes to get it done. When things are not time sensitive I usually pace myself pretty well and when Im hunting Im ok with taking an extra hour or 2 too get to the top of the mountain, but when Im waiting for someone else to do something so I can get moving I cant stand it. Like Engideer said, its the mental part that is the hardest to deal with.

As I've gotten older, I'm 55 now, I find that there are many and there are always going to be obstacles to overcome. We are all a work in progress in this thing called life. Some obstacles are easier than others to conquer, battle and fight through. And each person has their own obstacles which can be complex to figure out in deciding our actions in that ongoing battle.

I'm always inspired hearing how folks are successful in achieving their goals. There are many creative ways they find to achieve them but mostly I'm impressed seeing their persistence, creativeness and their ingenuity. I'm impressed in how they just don't give up in finding their solutions.

We all age, and get older. It's a battle we can never win but we can fight a good fight, keep up a strong body and a strong mind and do our best to slow our aging process down. Hopefully making more right decisions to gain ground instead of losing ground on those obstacles in life that take us back a step or two.

My prayer is everyone is successful in finding, achieving and conquering all their goals on the battleground. May God bless you and your family in that journey.

Just remember we are only human and not machine! We all have different breaking points. I'm like you also, I can't stand to watch someone doing something and not jumping in to get it done! Take it easy there is so much to do here try and stay healthy mentally and physically!

I came to somewhat of a compromise with my self the last few days. I just helped level the last 1/2 of the load. There is plenty of time to level the first 1/2 while waiting for the second 1/2 and that seemed somewhat ok in my head. It was still more then my body wanted but was the best balance I could come up with mentally and physically. We finished last night and I have a day off today!

MM, I feel ya. I'm 38 and this year is the first that my back has really caught up with me. I raced motocross for years and put a severe beating on my back. Worked construction (carpentry and road work) all my life. Got myself a state job and still go ballistic with the lack of "get it done" after several years. This year I've had to start physical therapy and stay on a basic back strengthening program. The major issue for me is hauling a load supported entirely from my shoulders or running a shovel for hours, can't hardly straighten up. Rest kills me even more, get all stoved up. Keeping active and doing my strengthening has helped for certain and I can still work most into the ground. And I sure as hell hope I'm still going like these other guys at 60 & 70. Look into a proactive stretch/exercise Program, it really does help.

Love your post Kevin! Jason, keep working on that back. I was really hurting in '13 @ the age of 43. I'm doing way better now and the key for me is to stay moving, It's amazing what a difference it makes.
MM enjoy your day off!
