What's your oldest piece of hunting gear?

My most cherished and one of my oldest would be my very first big-game rifle my father gave me when I was 12 in 1972. It is a Remington Model 600 Montana Centennial in 6mm Remington. It was made in 1964 for the 100th Anniversary of the Montana Centennial and the 75th of Montana Statehood. He purchased it brand new and it sat in a closet until I was old enough to hunt.

My first year I shot two antelope with one shot running at about 75 yards broadside. When I shot a doe ran beside the buck and they both dropped!! My dad was about 30 feet to the left of me and he shot a nice buck at the exact same instant. You only heard one shot and three antelope were down. My father's friend who was hunting with us tagged the doe. The hunting guides were smiling that day! This rifle is now my son's and he used it on his first antelope as well!

Can you still find ammo for the 22WRF? CCI makes periodic runs of .22 long and I stock up when I see it.

i still use my Buck folding knife I carried in Nam in 1969. Have in my hunting pack and clean my ducks & geese while hunting the platte river.

Kind of funny this topic came up, because my wife and I were just talking about how old some of my hunting clothes are. I started hunting out of state in UT in the late 80's early 90's and splurged and bought some Thermax long john's and some Worsterlon button up shirts from Cabelas. They were my first clothes made from fast drying synthetic material and at the time seemed crazy expensive. Believe it or not I still have and use all three sets of long johns (Modern term/Base layers) and 2 out of 4 of the original Worsterlon shirts(2 of the shirts finally fell a part) I don't think they make either of these items anymore, but I would buy a couple more if they did, as I'm pretty sure I've got my moneys worth. I also have a Browning rain coat that I bought on my first trip to AK in the 90's and it's the same one in my pack this year. It's been an amazing piece of equipment.

After reading gonhunting's post, it occurred to me that I've been wearing the same down vest forever. I got it in '69 and it gets worn every hunting season. It's lost a lot of its loft but it still keeps me warm. My wife bought me new one about 15 years ago and I have not worn it yet. It just seems too nice or something. Funny!

I've also got a old Buck 110 knife that's from the same era but I've been carrying a newer model Buck (Buck Lite) for at least 20 years. I've never really looked for anything better. Like the vest, it still works!

I have a pack mule that can call an elk pretty good, aka 25contender! He's getting pretty old, early 50's. Sadly, I'm right behind him!

I do have a bolt action .22 rifle that my grandfather gave me 37 years ago. It had some age on it then, but it still shoots great and I do try to shoot small game with it when I take a notion.

Far and away, my most decrepit gear is my legs (knees!)...61+ years and counting! I still favor my 375h&h model 700 that I've used since the mid-seventies. It's my go-to gun.

I usually associate a .375 with African hunting. Do you use that on everything in AK?

The one piece that has gone on each and ever hunting trip in the Lower 48: is my Coleman Stove (2 Burner, white gas) was given to me as a Birthday present in 1977, it gets placed back in the original box after every use. The box is old and worn but still with me. I believe I will wear out before it does

I have several rifles and shotguns that my Dad gave me that were built in the 60's and 70's. I am 42, the oldest hunting gear that I have of my own would either be a Buck 119 special that I bought at Walmart around 1991 or a 10x rainsuit in the old realtree camo that I bought around 93.

I have several items that are quite aged and I seldom use them but oddly enough, I take them to camp to remind me of family members long gone. 1) 1902 Winchester Md94 in 32WinSpcl - my grandfather's rifle which I took several deer and elk with, 2) 1940 Hirsch Weiss 100% virgin wool plaid coat w/double back and sleeves - my dad's cold weather coat when hunting elk in the Blue Mtns. of Oregon, 3) 1947 Western skinning knife - as a teenager, I left this knife at the kill site of my first elk. My dad made me go it immediately that night. A long, dark, cold hike in snow--I never left it lying around again!, 4) Anyone remember the Jon-E-Warmers from the 60s? I still put one to occasional use.

Have an old woodland camo T-shirt that I've had since middle school that I cut the sleeves off and looks like it is painted on except for all the holes! My brother hates it and always makes fun of me for wearing it, so I take it everywhere and bust it out unexpectedly at least once.

Gun- Remington rolling block model 4 .22lr made in 1890something. Been in my family since it was new. Still use it for squirrels and trapping

Gear- and old brass sailing compass I keep in my emergency pack. Idk how old it is, but I've had it since I was a kid

My Lakefield 64B semiautomatic 22lr was 34 years old as this past Christmas. With it's wood stock recently refinished it looks pretty much new and a lot better than the current 64B in synthetic from Savage. I was 12 when I got it. My Crosman pump 22cal pellet gun is 2 years older but doesn't go hunting anymore, and my Daisy BB gun I got when I was 10 has been jammed with a shotgun pellet for the past 20 years. My 22 gets out a lot, it goes to the range pretty much every time I go and for sure every time my 12 year old comes with. Plus it gets out hunting grouse, rabbit, turkey, and squirrel on a regular base. Money wise I know it's next to worthless but it's the most valuable gun I own.
