I have a stock paid off 2004 Ford ranger. It is the one with the 4.0 liter which makes for crappy mpg but it helps driving the passes in Colorado. It is going into the shop next week to get a leveling kit as well as new tires and other stuff done. Not the best truck but I like it because it is narrow and does well on the narrower Colorado back roads. It has 160,000 miles on it and other than routine maint. no problems whatsoever.

I have a 2000 or maybe 2001 Chevy silverado and a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee v8. I usually try to use the jeep for my hunting adventures.. Although my friends have a bet as to how long it will take before I roll it. I'm kind of an adrenaline junky which can get me into trouble....

Well, I am downsizing, just got rid of a 95 F250 4x4 PSD, and it just was too much to operate with Diesel in/around $4. Just going to have to minimalize my thinking towards a "all around" hunting, commuting, etc, vehicle...have had the CJ, 4x4 S10, etc in the past,they all had their Pro's and Con's.....

I have use both CJ and S10 in years past. The S-10 was a '85 2wd with an Isuzu diesel engine, I was amazed the places it would go, and it got 25-30 mpg! It finally died on me with unknown miles in it so I junked it. The 'OL CJ5 sits in the garage now mostly, I've had it for 25 years. It has a big cammed, high compression, NOS injected small block chevy in it now. It doesn't go hunting anymore, it never had alot of room anyways. The dead critters always had to go in the back seat. If I did that now I would get blood on th NOS bottle.

89 gmc 2500 is my hunting truck. have had it for a very long time and has been my baby. well over 200k. enough balls and guts to get done what needs done. and enough room to climb under hood and work on things without ripping everything out. its been retired this fall though and now looking for another hunting rig. im looking at ford rangers, 4x ofcourse. toyota tundras are cathing my eye. older ones that i wont care get scratched up a bit in the hills. a good hunting truck will have scratches up and down the sides, top and everywhere inbetween

I have a 2003 gmc crewcab shortbox duramax. But last month I bought me a 1991 toyota xtracab 4x4 that I drive mostly now. Long trips I take the duramax.

Truck wise I have been a big believer in Toyotas for a long time. I drove an 2003 access cab v8 4x4 from 24k-176k miles, then had to upgrade to my current 2006 double cab to be able to put a baby seat in back. I got it in April with 96k mi and am already up to 111k mi. I do not care for the bigger newer body style on the tundras, that's why I bought the 2006, the last year before they redesigned them.

Gas is a killer, I need to have a buddy for an out of state road trip, coming from the south its about $1000 to get out there and go anywhere. Very manageable for a week if split 2-3 ways, but solo its a nut kick.

I am contemplating on my next move downsized to the newer body style Toyota Tacoma. Only a V6, but I never tow anything other than an atv on a trailer and that's plenty. The newer Toyota Tacomas are about the same body size as the old Tundras, still plenty of room in a double cab. And narrower than most big trucks, so they are more trail capable.

I should have taken a 2 bike trailer on the last trip - we had nowhere to put the elk and looked like a buncha dumb ass red necks from texas on the way back!

Ivorytip I love my toyota. It gets around so good. It cut my fuel bill into half. I put 33" tires on it for a little more clearance and it does good.

Here's my 2008 Tundra. This is an older picture Has a leveling kit w 20" in. rims and Nitto Terra tires. That put my MPG down a bit but then I added an air in take after and its right about 17-18 which was the original MPG. So far its made 2 trips to Wyoming for Mule deer, and a few elk hunting trips in my home state of New Mexico. It rides well, my little girl loves riding in it compared to her mother's vehicle. Hauls a 2 horse trailer just fine as well as an occasional trailer full of hay. But sad to say it sat idle this hunting season.
We also have an old 76 chevy pickup that needs some major work. Hopefully some day I'll get a chance to work on that as well as find my dream car to restore and customize.
