Whats your elk bullet?

In a muzzleloader I use a Barnes made Thor bullet.

In a CF gun I always used the Partition, but I did try an Accubond once, and was impressed with it.

The Barnes TSX is my go to bullet. Still shoot Partitions in a few guns, but use 10 barnes for every 1 nosler. You just can't beat the TSX.

the two animals I shot with the barnes bullets were a cow elk with a 35 whelen, shot her twice with perfect placement broadside and they penciled through. Shot an antelope with 7mm 140 ttsx broadside at 100 yards and no pass through. both resulted in kills though performance was disappointing. Since then I've switched to accubonds and I am very impressed, big bulls drop in their tracks as do deer and antelope. I'm sure the barnes stuff is just fine but I won't be using them ever again. My two cents... stick with the accubonds...

90 yards, 300 WSM, one 180 gr. Accubond. Dropped right there.

Picture perfect.

120 gr. Nosler Partition at 25 yards. Stopped inside jug number 5. Awesome bullet. My dad only uses 160 gr. Partitions in his 7mm Mag and has killed everything with it. Cannot go wrong with that one either.

30-06 and 165 gr. Accubond out of my #1B with its 26" barrel at 25 yards. Through 5 and smacked number 6 and shoved it about 2" on the board but did not penetrate number 6.

Here is how it was found.

This just shows a good top view of the 90 gr. E-tips and how they expanded. Pretty impressed with them also.

25-06 120 gr. Partition at 250 yards. One shot quartering away. Hit her perfectly where shown and the bullet exited the off-side tight behind the right shoulder. She went 40 yards and tipped over. Great performance. Young man was laying down using a bi-pod and the elk had no idea we were there. Made a great shot and great performance with the Partition again!

Could have taken her whole on the game cart but we had these new Blacks Creek Canadian packs so we wanted to try them out. I put a front quarter, both backstraps, and the tenderloins in my pack and my son had one front quarter in his bag. We put the rear quarters just cut right in front of the quarter across the animal and loaded them up on the cart. Both the "Critter Cart" and the packs worked great. So did the 25-06!
