I suspect you will get a different answer form most everyone who bothers to answer.

would not say it is or is not ,the best but
I like wayne carltons super blue. diaphragm type call.
good for cow call , calf call and bugling. just have to learn to use it.
been using it for some 30 years and have not found one I like better , though I am sure they are out there.

I was just in Wyoming and had two calls. A primos
hyperlip single and a trophy wife. I'm not an expert at all and a not a ton of experience but elk on that trip liked and came charging in for the hyperlip. The trophywife seemed to do more harm than good or not as good. Some people obviously like that one but the elk this month def had a preference.

The Primos hyperlip sounds the most like an assembly mew and when used correctly......brings them with one call like you said. If you ever watched or studied Chris Roe's material you will see it alot. I personally have one of those on my neck and a Elk 101 contender call ( diaphragm ) in my mouth.

OK, I'll say what no one wants to but the Hoochie MaMa is a great call. Say what you want to about them, they work. They are easy to use and if you have never used a call before they can be a go to call, just punch your thumb into the diaphragm and squeeze.

I watched a spike bull come in from over a 1/4 mile away when one was used. The spike had started to move up a side canyon off of a sagebrush flat and when the call was used he turned around and came trotting right to us. We were up on some ledges and if he could of he would of climbed right up to where we were sitting.

My favorite one is the primos hyperlip single followed by the primos imakadabulls crazy. Now that I've lost both of them this year, I'll be buying more of each this fall if Eastman's doest give them away again next summer! :)

Roe's stuff is spot on.

I don't know about "best" but I'm a fan of the Carlton Mac Daddy. I like that the cow portion detaches and fits in a small pouch. It sounds a lot like the Hoochie Mama but IMHO it's a little louder. I have a tough time with diaphragm calls. My mouth gets super dry when I'm chasing through the woods at 10k' and I just never seem to do them very well. This one works for me.

That's going to be the best call for anybody: the one that works for you.

Same setup here. I also carry a mellow yellow. Simple, but it still works as well. I like to have 3-4 calls to find the desired 'flavor' of the elk, if you will.
