Does anything open and close when you work it?

To me it looks like it could be some kind of a press.

Seen lots of old stuff around my great grandpaws farm, nothing like that. Seems the two outside plates hold something and that big more black colored middle part is a knife/shear of some sort operated by that large handle/ratchet mechanism, then twist an outside plate it in to cut another slice? No idea if I'm even close or even if I am close what it would cut?

I'm with QQ, it is a finger eating looking son of a gun...

It looks like you could use it to feed chickens and chop their heads off at the same time.... I have no idea but I'm very curious now???

Showed the pic to my wife, she's an "OLD FARM GAL" although younger then me! Her guess a manual grain press? Probably could use it also as a meat tenderizer for that old chewy bull elk you killed this year?????
