xtreme, don't let the steppness bother you. get a 4th season tag find a good canyon with a road in the bottom you shoot him it's a down hill drag. hopefully it's a snow covered hill and he will slide to the bottom.....buck down!!

If I had that many points I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 4th season hunt. I live in and around several good units and see what shows up during the 4th season. It is the closest season to the rut (usually only a week or so before) the big bucks start showing up. The downside is the weather, never know what it's going to be like....except cold! Just my opinion.

It is getting close to show time. I have a call in to my local game warden. We have some quality deer in unit 81. There are just too many hunters for the amount of deer. I talked with CDW about unit 67, the numbers are way down but still trophy deer are being taken and the amount of hunters has been reduced. I wanted to see the upgraded gmu tip sheets but cant wait forever.

I have recieved a lot of good advice from the Eastmans forum and thanks to all. I am trying to use the MRS and make sure I am in a good trophy unit. Due to point creep I am thinking unit 67 3rd. will be first choice and unit 66 3rd for 2nd choice. Unit 67 because I kinda know where to start in that unit. I didnt get these nine points on purpose so maybe creep wont get me this year. Unit 61 would be good but I had rather not hunt like it should be hunted. Still doube checking everthing. I believe the MRS has a mistake for the amount of preference point in the 4th season, non resident, I believe, takes 15 pp.

Sent in for unit 67 3rd rifle mule deer. Did all the research I could. All the folks at Colorado Game and Fish were helpful and courtious. I really considered unit 81 4th, but after talking with the warden I decided no. He said the best deer he checked was a 236. He just had to throw that in knowing I would be happy with a much lower scoreing deer. Problem in that unit is way to many hunters and low deer numbers. More than 200 deer hunters in the season I wanted to hunt. Anyway it was great talking to him as we are friends and neighbors.
Time to pack, for spring bear, with grandson.
