What did you draw and what's your strategy?

Ins't shooting with a camera, technically shooting? Just thinking. I am headed to the silver state this week for my first of two scouting adventures. I have been watching the BLM web site and praying there are no major fires. First time in the unit I drew this year, but the last time I saw more bucks than hunters  (always makes for a nice trip)

I saw a bull and some cows not too far from the big mine operation that is near the burned area on the north end of Long Valley in area
108.
It was during a late rifle deer tag so it was early november.
That burned area might be a good place to stat looking.
Good luck

Drew the 111E bull tag. Grew up in northern NV, but now live in UT so my 'boots on the ground' strategy will focus around 2 summer scouting trips and at least 1 more in Oct. Will try for a couple more trips if the wife 'n kids schedule allow. Was never able to hunt this area growing up, but I do have some extended family in the general area that have given some advice.

Like everyone else, I'm sure my time on Google Earth has had an impact on their servers. Now if I can convince the wife on the new rifle, I'll be in good shape!

6 early archery tag for me. Love this area and have drawn it quite a bit in the last 8 years. Already started scouting and have found good bucks. The horn growth is ahead of schedule this year according to my experience in the area and am looking forward to finding some bruisers, with all this crazy moisture we have had this spring and early summer.

111E Bull tag. Try to get out and scout as much as possible (heat dependent) make them fishing trips. Try to find a respectable bull. Shoot respectable or better or whatever gets in my sights. Probably be my only chance for a Nevada bull, could be 14 to 19 years before I get another chance.

Ely area muzzy bull hunt. I will scout 4 days in late August. Then hunt the first full week of the season.

Wish I had more time to commit to this tag. Pesky sheep tag in Oregon is taking up all my time. Woes me.

I'm heading over to my unit (221-223) in mid-July to scout for my upcoming archery mule deer hunt. Hopefully, I find something that fills my head until the season begins.

My son drew an archery tag for deer in 271 and a bull rifle tag in 231. We saw some big bulls in there last winter while hunting for my cow elk.

Hey y'all! Got lucky again this year and pulled cow tags (there's three of us) for the 16 wilderness hunt. New country for me, I love 111-115 areas. Been doing plenty of homework and will be putting in a scout trip next month. I realize the start of archery is next month, so I'll certainly have my wits about me and my party.... We hunt early rifle in October this year. I'm a little concerned about being concentrated to one area within the unit as I know it's a popular place. Will be a great new learning experience for sure tho! I'll be sure to get pics and tell ya'll about it!

Be sure to send me a report. I have a ML bull tag that starts right after your season ends.

Well picked up a 101,102,109 antler less deer tag. Should still be a very difficult hunt to try and arrow a fawnless doe with 999 other doe tags and the early rifle buck hunters. Hopin if I hike in a little ways I can find some and slip an arrow in one. Want the meat and it also can provide more experience since I've only gotten 1 buck with a bow and my first with a rifle. This way I can learn how to break an animal Down miles in, by myself, then properly load it in my pack, and then I can process the animal at the homestead. Sucks I can't chase velvet bucks but I'll still get several days of huntin if needed.

Velvetfvr it should be a fun hunt for you. No pressure to find a big buck. Sounds like a great time.
Good luck to you.
