What a normal mountain snowpack looks like for north idaho on May 1st.

It dawned on me, that a lot of folks on this site, don't get in the mountains year round, and don't really now what normal snowpacks are like. It might be may on the calendar and you are in shorts at home. But there is still lots of snow up high. These pics where taken may 1st in north Idaho. This is normal for this time of year. Great ride. I got one more snowmobile ride in me, before river running and mountain biking take over.

I am in the grey shirt, white sled. god, I love the mountains and everything you can do in them.

Maybe it was because I was watching Discovery Channel last night but that looks like avalanche central !!!!!!! !!!!!

avalanches are part of mountain riding. but every slope does not slide every run. Just like animals, you learn the ropes of the trade.

I envy you guys a bunch. It's been over or near 100 since Saturday here in Oklahoma. I can't wait to pack up and move north west.

Looks like some great late season riding. Would love to be able to get the sled out again this year. But means the snow melted here 2 months ago that isn't gonna happen. :(

Saturday may 10th. last ride of the year.
send it season has officially ended for me. I have to work next weekend, than memorial day weekend, and than a multiday raft trip. see you again next December mr and mrs cornice.
god, I love cornice jumping.
