So with all this rain we've been seeing along the Front Range here in Colorado, I'm curious on all your thoughts on what the elk hunting will be like come mid-September? I drew my 51 tag again this year and there has been a lot of moisture so wallows will be a plenty!

Some "experts" are predicting an early fall and Im starting to think they may be right! Should be some amazing antler growth this year for most of the state!

2 years in a row the majority of Colorado and Wyoming are looking good. Antler growth should be awesome again this year. I'm really hoping for a mild winter so animal numbers really start to climb. Recruitment has been good- hope the trend continues as increased permits are our only hope of counteracting point creep.

A good wet year is going to benefit all types of game and fish species and Colorado got a good one for sure! One of my mentors that still lives near Grand Junction got a whole crop of alfalfa in early spring without using ANY irrigation; pretty much unheard of.

What I found that was really cool is SW Colorado finally got really wet too. Based on some of Colorado Cowboy's posts, Vallecito reservoir actually filled up this year. When I was doing fish work for the CODOW in 2002-2003, there were times we couldn't even launch a boat in that mud hole!

If y'all think you've had too much, try to send some down to AZ! Sometimes I wonder why I ever left Colorado in the first place.

Actually 2 years in a row for Vallecito filling.

I've spent a lot of time in the San Juans in July and have never seen it so lush and green. Meadows and parks are waist deep in grass and still lots of wildflowers even at over 10,000'. As was already mentioned, water everywhere. All the elk, deer & bear I've seen are really in great condition. I'll be scouting some more in a couple of weeks and will keep everyone up to date on what I find.
