What series of Western Mountaineering bags are people using? The "MF", "GWS" or the "lite". If I understand it right their GWS series is the most water repellant.

I've got an antelope 5 degree, not waterproof.
I didn't want a waterproof down bag because that waterproof layer could help trap moisture inside the bag. Plus it's heavier.

Thanks Rock. I was leaning toward waterproof because sometimes my breathing creates condensation on the bag around my face and my bag touches the side of the tent wall with condensation on it.
I don't have any experience with this brand, I sent out an email to the guys in the office though. Someone has likely used one of them.

I'm open to other brands, I just asked about WM because they seem to have very good reviews and their web site has no way to contact them to ask questions other than snail mail.

I have the Alpinlite. It is incredibly light and very high quality. I'll put it this way, it has been worth the money to the extent that I am purchasing another this year. I never thought I would say that about a $500 bag.
Yes the GWS series if definitely the most weather repellent. These are great bags from what I hear. I do not use them but friends that have them really like them and say they are warmer than they are rated for. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. For archery season I would go with the Ultralite 20 degree bag. For rifle season I would go with a Kodiak GWS bag with a zero degree rating.

Dakota, if you're worried about condensation from your breathing the easy fix is to take a small piece of fleece cloth and pin it near your face like a bib. That'll collect most of the condensation/frost and will be easy to dry.
The MF series bag I have has a good DWR on it. Water beads up on the outside. The only issue I've had was in a two day rain when the water found a weakness in my seam sealing and developed a drip in the ceiling of my tent. I simply laid my rain jacket over the foot of the bag and had no problems.
