Thanks for the reply... I figure that's about right, but I guess my question is, given the unit, is anyone willing to give some general guidelines for a first-timer? I'll take a PM, but understand if no one wants to share their secrets or TTPs... It's difficult contemplating flying out, then driving out sight unseen and trying to figure it all out in a single trip if that's all I get (and it probably will be). There's "you win some, you lose some" and "well that was a doggone expensive scouting trip that maybe I can use next year... or not"....

Good to know about the wolves, though. That's definitely a good tidbit. I'd heard that their effect on the herd was a bit oversold the past few years.

Stay far away from the middle fork. Was there last year. Went with a outfitter up the middle fork into ID end of road. He gave us a bunch of BS. Lots of complaints on him including ours. There are no deer or elk. I was there 5 days. Never seen a single deer or elk. If you want to do a wolf hunt go there. Seen wolfs and heated them at night. I would tell anyone to stay away from any units that are close to the middle for in ID and MT
