I'm surprised that Weatherby lasted as long as it did down in the Peoples Republic of California with all their rules and regulations and being a unfriendly state for firearms and now ammo.

Way to go Wyoming.

I was actually thinking way back in 94 or 95 when they moved the Mark V manufacturing plant to the US that they were going to get out of California but they stayed there.

I have one of the first runs of a stainless Weatherby Mk V in .340 Weatherby mag from the US.

I can't wait to get a rifle that says "made in Wyoming" on the barrel. Might have to trade my Vanguard for a new one.

Sad day indeed. I remember the original Weatherby plant/store in South gate, Calif. I used to go there a lot. I went to school with Ed and his sister Diane in Downey, they are great people. Glad (and sad) to see them going to Wyoming. California is not the place I grew up and lived many. many years in.

I agree- California is going to see more and more businesses move if things don't change. I am in the middle of helping a business move to Nebraska right now. My company is going to handle a good % of their production. In the end, it is cheaper for them to pay us to manufacture here than it was for them to do it in house in California. It is just too expensive to operate there and logistics are ridiculous.

Good for Weatherby!! I have 4 months to go in communist California before my daughter graduates high school. I am shutting my general
contracting business down & leaving!! I have had enough of the liberal democrat agenda!!!

what amazes me is that they didn't leave cali years ago.

I'm just glad their staying stateside. I have a large pickle jar I throw my spare change in that someday may help my Weatherby cause.

No doubt the land of fruits and nuts gets a bad rap, but hard as it may seem to believe, the business climate there is better lately than it has been for some time.

Sheridan is a great town.

CC, I know exactly what you mean. I grew up in Redding (northern cal.) and it was pretty great there, back in the day. I still have family there and when I go back I see that it is no where near the place I left years ago. BB
