looking at doing a moose hunt in Canada, cant seem to ever draw here and putting in puts me out for putting in for good elk and deer draws. I don't need a guided hunt, outfitted would be a nice experience. ready to shake things up a bit. any insight as where to look?

Ivory, I'd vouch for who I used, Stone Mountain Safaris. They aren't cheap, but I figure you get what you pay for. I did a multi species hunt , which I will not do again. I plan on going again with my son in 2017 on a 2 on 1 hunt for moose! After hunting them once I'm hooked. They. Sure such an impressive beast to view and hunt! It truly has to be on everyone's must do list!

Ivory, there guides are probably like you, honest, hard working and want you to succeed! I had a guy In camp the day I rode in and he got his stone sheep on his last day. The outfitter mentioned it to Me that he wanted this guy to succeed so he sent an additional guide to add even more help for him the get his sheep!

I just got back from an unguided fly in moose hunt in northern Ontario. My buddy filled our bull tag the first day, and I filled our cow tag the last. Outfitter is Birchbark Lodge out of Pickle Lake. Awesome trip all around. Check out their website or message me for more info.

I had already shot a huge bull with my bow a few years ago, so I came up with the agreement that he would be up to bat the first day. Then we would alternate days, with the rule that whoever was up had to shoot the first cow, but could pass on smaller bulls. Once the first tag was filled, the remainder of the hunt went to the other guy. Otherwise a coin toss could be used to determine who was up the first day.

Its really easy to decide who shoots the bull....
Whoever has a good clean shot. There isn't a moose hiding behind every pine tree in Ontario.
I have hunted there 5 times and only seen 3 bulls total. Never even seen a cow moose. lol
In my hunt this season. I called the bull for my friend because I shot a nice one up there in 2010 and he
had never killed anything with his bow.

Check out Northwest Big Game Outfitters in Atlin, British Columbia - they kill a lot of record bulls. I hunted with them for mountain goat in September.
It's a family-run outfit with horses and good accomodations since 1964. Beautiful area. I enjoyed hunting with them and after 50 years Jack and Lance really know the area. They'll take you out, not some young guide they hired from somewhere else.

Don't think that's realistic for a guided hunt, especially for a moose-grizzly combo, and especially when you add in tags, guide tip and other tips, taxidermy, meat processing and shipping.
The eastern trips might be cheaper, especially for moose/black bear, but you might consider a DIY hunt or semi-guided float trip for moose. Check out the old thread on this forum for the north of the border DIY moose that Bitteroot Bulls did.
