My buddy was down from Wyoming this last week for fishing and turkey hunting. He brought his new Vortex Binos with him...first time I have held a pair. To me they are the clearest binos I have ever used. Absolutely crystal clear and easy to focus. His were full size... I really prefer mid size binos for the weight and comfort difference. Do any of you have recommendations on any of the mid-size models? Are they as clear as the full size? I live in the middle of corn fields so I don't have the opportunity to go hold a pair of them personally. Thanks in advance for any help.

What are you thinking size wise? I'm not too sure what you mean by "mid size" are you thinking a 10x42? I would consider 15x50 big and 8x32ish small. Do you remember which model he had? I can get a pair in your hand and make sure they fit you right pre purchase. Let me know!

Should have my Vipers soon, can't wait!! Other than trying them out in the store haven't field tested them yet. What model did your buddy have?

I am probably going to have to get some also. My parents have the 10x42 or 8x whatever and they blow my nikons out of the water. Loved them, might have to order a pair from hard stalk in the future.

I just got a set of the Razor hd 10x42's a few months back and I love them so far. I had a pair of Zeiss conquest 12x45's and feel like the edge to edge clarity is better on the Razor's. I think they were a good investment and are about as good as it gets without chipping in some serious cash for anything better. They feel good in my hands and are nice and compact. I don't think they will be as durable as my Zeiss's were, but they still feel solid. I should also mention that I have no experience with any of the other Vortex bino models. I am no expert in the optics world but I do know that it's a good idea to spend the most you can afford on optics.

You guys can't go wrong with Vortex IMO and well as purchasing from Andrew (Hardstalk) I have been very happy with my Vortex binos, Spotter, range finder and rifle scopes.

Vortex makes some of the best optics for the money, I'm having a few issues with a scope but I'd highly recommend any of their Spotters or Bino's. They do have some really friendly CS folks and they try their damnedest to keep you happy!!

I have a Viper HS scope I love and recently got a pair of Talon HD 10x42 binos from Hardstalk. The binos are great and what I'd say is a midsize. Don't think you can go wrong with Vortex or Hardstalk.

I love my Vortex 10x Diamondbacks. And they are cheap. Everyone that's looked through them can't believe how clear they are. Hard to beat for $200 range binos.

Can't go wrong with Vortex. Great compromise between quality and price. They hit the sweet spot. I have the Viper HD 10x50. Great binos for my needs. No regrets. I also have the a 2.5x10x44 Viper HS scope, fell last year packing out, scope was dinged up a little, sent into Vortex, and they returned the scope in 7 days no questions asked. You never know about a warranty until you try it out. Impressed to say the least. The scope was checked for tracking, purged, touched up, and the minor damage was repaired. Enjoy your purchase. I think the 10x42 would be a great choice as well.

I have personally seen Vortex Optics hold up to the most extreme situation...being blown up from an IED. Viper PST 1-4x in Larue SPR mount. Buddy lost (3) fingers and both legs. M4 was destroyed, optic was still good...and still held a group. Needless to say I will always rely on Vortex for my optics choice. BTW, he lived and is doing amazing things in his life!

I have a pair of the "budget" Diamondback 10x42s and they are great. Looking forward to getting my hands on a pair of Vipers or Razor HDs!
