Thanks!
Yeah it was Wilderness. It was 9 1/2 miles in. It was a tough pack-out, but only one trip.

Thank you for sharing the video of your hunt. Watching videos of other DIY hunters helps maintain my motivation to keep training during the off-season. Congratulations on your awesome DIY Montana Mule Deer and I hope you share more videos down the road.

Thank You,

Excellent video, as usual! That looked like one tough buck.
Thanks.

He was a tough one. Sometimes they just won't give up the ghost.

That first hit broke a shoulder and ripped through one lung, penetrated the ponch, and came to a rest under the skin just ahead of the offside rear quarter, where I recovered it fully expanded. The second hit went right through the heart, turning it inside out, before getting some lung and exiting far side ribs. Third hit was double lung, through and through. Any of the three would have done the trick on their own. All three caused massive internal damage, but that guy still got up and ran, without a heart, and with a broken shoulder.

Some critics might say the cartridge was too small (7-08), or the bullet didn't expand enough (Barnes 140 TTSX), or whatever, but I think some critters are just tougher than others.

You hit the nail on the head; some are tougher than others. You definitely had enough gun and used some of the best hunting bullets money can buy. I'd say his will to survive was pretty amazing.
