There is a lot of private property and roads in that area. But there is a lot of micro habitats that hold the deer on public land. When I talked to the biologist a few years back he said the majority of deer hold up in these pockets. After hunting elk a lot in that area I would have to agree with him. The deer will be in pine pockets surrounded by sage brush. They never leave these micro habitats and people drive right by the pockets. Get out and walk away from the roads and you will start seeing the deer in the these pine pockets.
