Utah elk OTC?

So my son is going to school at the U in Salt Lake, and he wants to get into archery hunting. He established residency, and was wondering if there are any OTC archery tags for elk, or if they're all draw. We are new to Utah hunting other than 25 years ago I once hunted rifle mulies. His buddy hunts the Wasatch behind the School for deer and helped my son with applying for an extended season deer hunt, so I think he's got that down, but he thought there was no chance at elk. But, From what I see, archery might be OTC for some parts of the state? Anyone have a good resource that explains the basics without going through all the confusing stuff???

Archery elk is OTC for spike and any bull units.

Only the Limited Entry tags are draw.

Season dates are on page 7. Permit sales dates on page 10. Elk unit map on page 38.

He can hunt any bull in the grey areas or spike only in yellow areas.

Yes, there is a extended archery season in Utah if you have a unfilled archery tag. It runs along the Wasatch Front and in a couple of other areas. Here is the information from last year for the extended hunts.
