I have a 30-06 browning x bolt and would like to do some work to it. For sure would like to either adjust the trigger, if possible, or get it replaced as it is way too hard. I have a vortex diamondback scope with the drop reticles that I may upgrade also. Any thoughts, recommendations, or experience with this particular rifle to make it even better? Thanks

Not positive, but I think the x-bolts have an adjustable trigger, something like 3-5 lbs. Should tell you in the manual if this is possible or not.

I was wondering about that, I don't have the manual to check, I'm not sure I ever got one when I bought it, I'll have to check. THanks

I have heard good things about the Vortex scopes but haven't tried one. If your considering different glass, Leupold is an excellent choice. I have a VXIII in 4.5x14 with the B&C reticle on my 30-06. Zero complaints- I love it.

I like the Vortex scope I have the only thing is that when I first shoulder the gun I have to adjust a little to get the full view in the scope. I also like Leupold scopes. I have had VX2's and 3's. I even have the cheaper rifleman on my sons 7mm-08 and with all them I see clear and full once shouldering the gun I think I may need to adjust the Diamondback either forward or back...

How does it shoot. If it shoots good I wouldn't do anything to it besides upgrade trigger.
It does shoot good, the issue with the scope and the trigger are the only things I don't like about it, if I could get those bugs worked out, it should be good to go. the other thing I was looking into are the tactical style one piece base and ring setup. Does anyone know who makes these for the x bolt? I knew a place a couple years ago when I bought the gun but don't remember the company...

Your scope issue could be resolved by adjusting the scope either forward or backwards on the gun. I've had the same issue, and I just loosened the rings enough to slide the scope. Try a few different positions until you can see through the scope easily, then tighten it back up. Of course you will need to sight in your gun again. It worked for me.

is anyone using the dnz mounts on their rifles? Seem like a great setup for the price. I also found EGW makes a picatinny base rail but is a little more expensive but would have more adjustment but then you need to get rings seperate. Its also steel while the dnz mount is made of a solid block of billet aluminum which is lighter. I would think for the application it would be plenty strong. Any input...thanks

I had my stock lengthened to fit my body. now when i shoulder the gun, i look right thru the scope. no fiddleing around. maybe look at getting the stock sized to you. mine had to be lengthened.

I've made custom stocks for 50 years and proper fit is the most important thing you can do to help you comfort (recoil) and shooting.
Factory guns are made to fit the average person and most of us are really not average!
