I'm headed to SW Montana the first week of November for an elk hunt. It seems extremely warm out there. Is this weather typical for this time of year. I sure hope it cools off some.

Definitely warmer then the past few years for sure. That being said It can change really quick over night that's a fact. Dont know where you are hunting but if you are in the high country it will be about 10* cooler.

I agree with 25Contender, I usually hunt elk in the Lima and Dillon area and have been there when its long sleeve t-shirt's one day and 12 degrees the next. I understand your concern though. I will be hunting elk up in the Cabinet Mountains this year and there is rain in the forecast for the opener and the following week. Some snow would sure be nice.

The old saying "if you don't like the weather stick around a few minutes" is appropriate. I will be hunting between Billings and Bozeman. I think we will be based at about 4500 ft and will hunt up from there. I hunt the first week of Nov so I still have some time for the weather to cool off.

Hard to believe bow season has come and gone and rifle opener is tommorrow. I'm enjoying this sunny 60 degree weather out here in eastern montana but I'd enjoy some snow next weekend and about 45 degree highs. It could all change in a week and could get a foot of snow pretty quick.

Just got back after 15 days of elk and deer hunting up on Dunn Creek and Wolf Creek, plus any other area we heard were holding elk, it rained 14 out of 15 days, only an inch of snow. The elk still are not moving during the day. I saw two spikes and six cows the entire trip. The local outfitters were not having much luck either. Hopefully this weather will change and I can head back up later this month.
