unit suggestions for DIY Elk with 7 points

Hi Fellas!

My brother and I are looking for suggestions on a unit to use our 7 points on in 2018. We have been
West many times for Deer but this will be our first Elk hunt, we are open to any weapon. I would say we are looking for a unit that could offer us an opportunity at fair size bulls, we would entertain any terrain level.

You might check out the draw results that are posted on the P&W website as a starting point. This will narrow down areas within your point range and then you can decide what area of the state you might be familiar with. This will give you some more specific questions to ask about particular units that might help get better and more detailed responses.

I'd suggest going to Toprut.com as it's easier to search compared to the CPW site. Archery will typically require lower points than most muzzy or rifle tags but not always.

Actually I would start with a area that you are familiar with if you have hunted deer in here in Colorado. If you haven't hunted deer here yet you will be up against the odds going into a unit blind, even the best of them. And yes even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
