Unit 9 (Lusk Area) WY- what ELSE to do?

So like a lot of folks I was fortunate to draw an antelope tag with my dad for this Fall. We drew unit 9, and plan on staying and hunting around the town of Lusk, in Niobrara county. Instead of beating a dead horse and asking for info on hunting, I am looking for recommendations on OTHER activities or sites to see in the area...

We love to rockhound, fossil hunt, artifact hunt and even a little medal detecting... any tips or must see to do's in that area of the state?

The Oregon trail runs not far from there you can still see the wagon ruts, and register cliff were people would carve there names into the rock wall that were traveling the Oregon trail.

You're only two hours from Mount Rushmore.

That's just south from where I live. If you love rocks and geology stuff, you should check out a couple ranches north a little ways from lusk. They give tours of all text dinosaur fossils they are constantly digging up. Almost all of them are complete. Each time they find a new one it seems it is the most complete Dino skeleton found yet. Pretty neat to go see. Lots of triceratops and t-rex.

Oh, the Hanson ranch is the big one that gives the best tours and has the most fossils. Once in a while they let you help dig.
