Unit 8/191

Hi everyone

We're headed out to Unit 7/8 and 191 for 3rd season. Never done alot of elk hunting and am always scrounging for advice and tips. And always grateful also.

We will be up near Diamond Peak and the Maxwell Ranch. Anything that anyone knows or thinks or thought about elk hunting there would be most appreciated.

What a great bunch of people on this site. I am so impressed with this community of people.

There are a lot of elk in the Rawah wilderness. I have seen a few big bulls in there. I have also seen some elk in unit 8 near Bull mtn but never hunted there. If you need more help you can pm me. I know a lot of good areas in these units.

The best advice on elk hunting for a newbie may be Mike Eastman's book on elk. You can also learn a surprising amount by reading the Eastmans' magazines and watching the show for awhile.

But, like all hunting, you learn an awful lot by just getting out there, especially if you can go with an experienced hunter or guide.
