This is the third time my hunt in this unit has changed ,due to others conflicting schedules. Previously had 2 bow hunts planned, now the group I'm going with are wanting to hunt 3rd season rifle. I'm starting to get very frustrated. My question is has anybody hunted the 3rd season in this unit and had good luck? I need to know if I should stick with the hunt or break off and do my own thing.

I was told west needle area.
West Needle Mountains.
Really remote area with only a couple of trails that I can see and only one really getting into the interior from the north. No roads except on the west and north sides. Bordered on the east by the Animals River canyon and railroad. I have never really been in this area, but if i were going to hunt it, I surly would want to do some scouting. My guess is that you won't have much hunter pressure except on the edges near the roads. It is in the western edge of the Weminuche wilderness area.

I can't speak to that unit, but I will be west of there for the first week and a half of archery season and can give you a report when I get back in late September.
