Have a deer hunt in this ne new mexico unit and was wondering if anyone had any recent experience in the unit. I hunted the unit in 2013 but only hunted one area. Wondering what the deer situation was looking like in the area now that the drought has eased. Any info is appreciated and good luck on those remaining hunts! The hunt starts on Saturday the 29th by the way

Walked many miles and drove many more. Very few deer and record heat equaled out to a small 4pt. With the week we had I was glad to get him. Record heat really had em nocturnal. I'm on a draw hunt in Oklahoma now at McCurtain county wilderness area and the weather is finally cooling. Supposed to only be around 70 tomorrow so I got my fingers crossed. Good luck to all the rest of the way

Congrats on your successful hunt. My girlfriend drew the first rifle hunt and experienced some of the same. Absurdly hot and little sign. We did hear a couple bulls bugling the first morning.
She ended up putting a tag on the only deer we spotted so it was good in the end.
