Unit 45 - 2nd Season Rifle Hunt

Hello all! New to the forum here.. Quick question to the group.. I was drawn last week for a 2nd season elk tag (rifle). Never hunted in unit 45, I have browsed some older topics I the forums on the Pecos Wilderness, but they were about 5 years old. Any advice, tips, or suggestions of this unit would be greatly appreciated. Anyone know anything about the Jicarita Peak area??

Another hunter got lost in the Pecos on Day #2.. Helicopters, search and rescue teams in every trail going in, blowing whistles, etc, etc.. Needless to say, that was the end of my hunt. Good unit though. When I draw 45 the next time, the locals told me to hunt around Elk Mountain during mid-Oct.. The elk are making their way east out of the high country..
