by deep I mean taking my mules into the roadless area and camping probably at least 4 miles from the road, trying to get away from 4 wheelers and crowds. But if I'm going to run into a lot of bivy hunters I'd rather leave the stock at home and try and find easier accessible elk. I have a friend coming with me to assist in my hunt, we're both fairly young and army vets with plenty of experience living out of our packs ( and have done it that way on our last 3 elk hunts) but the idea of sleeping at the truck every night and not having to tend to stock sounds appealing. the only problem is I've never been in 38 before and wont have time to scout.
