Unit 17 NM

Well dont post to often mainly just read and learn. Though I finally drew a Non Res NM elk tag in unit 17. Drew the first archery hunt from Sept 1-14th. Hoping it will be a good time, and get on some bulls. Never hunted in NM before so not sure how much it differs from Arizona. The goal is to arrow a bull bigger then my AZ 2016 bull. Looking forward to a great hunt. Being pouring over maps and OnX trying to learn as much as I can before I start making trips over to scout.

Any of you guys ever hunt this unit before? Curious how the roads are, weather, pressure etc.

I hunted Unit 17 last year and I will be there again this year during the 2nd Archery Hunt. My Wife killed a nice Bull last year in 17 during muzzle loader season. The weather will be warm. The Unit has really good roads not a ton of hunting pressure.
