Two friends and I are doing our first DIY archery elk hunt OTC in Colorado this year. Unfortunately with our schedules we aren't able to do any scouting. We are going the very first week of the archery season because of one of my hunting partners work requires him to be there for most of September. We are backpacking and plan to get in as deep as we need to.
Anyone hunt 161 and care to share some general information? We have looked at the Stump Park and Davis Peak area in the wilderness area. Just looking for a good time and to get into some elk. Really this will be a learning year and the experience we gain is what we are really looking forward too as we gain points.
