Hello, I'm looking for some info on unit 10 elk and unit 75 mule deer. Im NOT looking for any honey holes just some dos and don'ts. I have a buddy living in Laramie. Id like to visit him this coming summer and do some scouting and then return in the fall to do some hunting. Just wanted to see if anyone here has any experience or pointers for those units. Thanks!

Unit 10 can be decent for elk if a person learns the elk habits and patterns in the area. I wouldn't expect a great chance at a trophy bull but I think with hard work a person can harvest an elk. The deer numbers are not great but are slowly getting better. I know several locals that hunted 75 and 76 hard and never found a decent buck to shoot. Again if you hunt hard you will probably find a legal deer but don't expect any kind of a trophy. In your shoes I think a combination fishing trip/antelope hunt with your friend would be a lot more enjoyable. Just my 2 cents...

I hunted those units this year on general tags. Archery elk was rough, only heard 4 bugles the entire hunt. Saw some great Bulls.. Down on private. Deer was even rougher, the whole season I found forays. I didn't find a legal 3pt till the rifle season was over for non res. Not trying to bust your bubble, but it was tough both rifle and archery. I'm looking farther north next year.

The deer hunting is tough, you can find some, but they are few and far between in 75. If you are truly willing to hunt hard, 2 miles deep at light, and stay till dark, you can have a good elk hunt. Your not going to be covered up in them, but you'll have a good elk hunt. We pack in camp on are back and camp at about 2.3 miles from the truck and end up about another 1 mile from there where we really start getting into the elk in unit 10 during archery season. I don't rifle hunt unit 10, only archery. In the last few years there is getting to be a lot more people, where I use to see nobody in a week I'll sometimes see 5 or 6 people in a day.

Got more question feel free to ask, Good luck!
