With that, disregarding laws to get something on film doesn't further "our" cause. It's simply just a big in-your-face self promotion.
You misunderstood my post. I'm saying we need a household name. I didn't say it needs to be Ted Nugent. Unfortunately I cannot think of one single person of fame in N. America who has stood up for hunters, trappers and gun owners like Nugent has for the past 30+ years. There has been no one willing to do it. There is no one. The liberal media rips apart anyone who dares.

Luckynv is essentially right about Nugent's violation in Alaska. He should have known better, But, it was an area specific regulation that was new and easily overlooked. I'm not making excuses for him, as a T.V. hunter and spokesman, he needed to go the extra mile to be legal. He did own up to it though.

I attended a banquet that he was a keynote speaker, at some years ago. He was hosted by a bow huntress and he spouted off an extremely insulting comment about his host, that was in very bad taste and obviously crushed the feelings of the poor gal. I lost tons of respect for him right then. The comment was completely unwarranted and rude.

Ted may appeal to some people with his unapologetic style and in your face manner, but I'm no fan of his.

This is why American sportsman are doomed !we are all ready to be judge ,jury, and executioner, most of what people are saying are rumors they have heard or half truths .dispite his mistakes the net work has not cut him loose! Like other shows! So his mistakes were not that damaging, he always stresses the importance of hunters knowing game laws, and if our present military is willing to embrace him and accept him why shouldn't we, I'm not saying he is our only spokes person but he is the best we have right now , not knowing all names mentioned before, Ted is the only one I know of that promotes trapping and pretty much all sportsman. So until we can get another rocker that has his facts straight and as passionate like uncle Ted, let's not throw him off the tour bus, until we have another to replace him.

And to further my general disdain for most T.V. hunters and their shows; "The Syndicate" shows host was sentenced to 16 months in jail,
$75,000 fine, and forfeiture of a $200,000 airplane and 17 "trophies. His show was dropped by the network and I think his hunting privileges have been revoked.
This was for several years of hunting in Alaska illegally.

I'm in full support of a few of the better shows (Eastmans) but can't tolerate most of them.

I honestly hadn't heard much out of him until he got heavily involved with NRA. I'm pretty cynical and just feel he's the gun owner's/sportsmans version of Al Sharpton, who is also a household name and really only relevant in the present bc of the mess he can get stirred up.

I agree Ted is a goofball and may not be our best advocate but I think Joe Rogan is a lot smarter then most give him credit for and Steven Rinella ,The Shockeys , Cam Hanes and Remy Warren are great at articulating the hunters point of view . I love there podcasts and listen to them all . These are the guys and gals we need getting the point across to the masses for us .

The California violation was baiting deer while hunting. From what I read he baited an area with corn (which is legal in Texas where he lives, but not in California) and got bust by California Wardens.

We have read about these violations by hunting show hosts/celebrities recently and IMHO there is no excuse for them. Their producers and guides should know the rules in the states they are hunting in. I like to M/L hunt deer & elk and when I plan on hunting a different state from my own, I research the new states laws regarding M/L equipment, and believe me they are all different.

Should the states & localities where these folks hunt turn a blind eye or give a break to the celebs......I think not! They should set an example and obey all the laws. I've seen lots of photos and tv shows where the hunter has their picture taken without wearing their blaze orange hat or vest. How does anybody know if they were actually wearing what was required when they were hunting? I've also seen plenty of unsafe gun handling on film too. These shows and hosts should set the example.

Just sayin..........
Not only did he bait the deer but I believe it was also a spike that he killed, whereas in CA it has to be forked or better on at least one side. I guess all that he sees is, "back straps, baby".

That show is a joke! If have a good friend that is a retired Cal F & G (he still calls it that!) Captain that thinks it is a big mistake as it really takes away from the real mission. The only reason they chase a pig poacher is trespassing or not having the stupid state tag. Like anywhere else pigs are considered a pest and the state views them as cash cows (oops cash pigs!).

Something to keep in mind about Ted... You may not like how he comes off, he may be prone to bouts of DBitis, but still (appears) to be pretty much on the normal end of the crazy spectrum and, as many have already said, he doesn't hesitate to get in front of the camera to defend gun owners and hunters. I've never seen his show, so I can't speak to that, but I've seen going around with the likes of Pierce whathisnuts on CNN and he showed what an a** that guy is.
The flip side of Ted is a bunch of anti-gunners and anti-hunters who are professional activists who will do anything on the spectrum from misrepresentation to flat out lying to push their agenda. To them, the ends justify the means and if they lie about something and that lie advances their agenda, they don't care if somebody calls them out on the lie later because they already got what they wanted.
As has also been said earlier, most hunters and gun owners don't go pushing their agenda on anybody, most beleve in the whole live and let live idea.
The anti-hunters/gunners don't live by that, they're going to do everything that can to push their agenda, by force if necessary.
Point is, until somebody else is willing to and capable of drawing attention to themselves and the issues as Ted is, he's it. And nobody is going to make everybody happy with everything they say, so until Ted goes Jesse Ventura crazy, we're going to all have to just love our goofy Uncle Ted the best that we can.
Just my two cents, adjusted for inflation.

I love that Nugent is a celebrity and is completely for our sport.
that his passion and knowledge always target the scum who seek to demonize hunting, gun owners, and stall my way of life
I also love that he is very aware of the corrupt politics that seem to envelope every aspect of my life, that he researches and combats people who think that because they are on the side of political correctness that they are always in the right.

I think there's plenty to love about Uncle Ted...
Bickering between hunters, is a sure recipe for our future's disaster....
