Hi, I am an Australian living in the UK and very keen on my hunting over here. We don't have quite the land or animal selection you guys have in the states and I am interested in possibly hunting in your country in the near future. I have only recently started overseas trips and have hunted for mouflon in Hungary, ibex in Kyrgyzstan. High on my list would be to one day shoot elk over there and one of my reasons for joining your forum is to pick up tips and learn from experienced hunters who have had luck doing so.
Anyway I hope I can make some friends and learn some new tricks.

All the best
Sam

Welcome to the forum. We already have a Kiwi here, so it's good to get more of the world participating. If you have the $ for some of the hunts you've already done, then you could be hunting elk this year on a landowners tag without having to wait to build points.

What sort of money are you looking at? Would much prefer public land hunt and more challenge than paying big bucks. I started looking at your tag/point system and to be honest it was too much for me. An absolute minefield for an international non resident. Every state looks different as well which is even more complicated!

s8; If you bump this question over to the General Hunting link, I am sure you will get a good discussion going. Believe me, there are answers out there, and most everyone is very helpful.

Ric, yes successful. Managed a nice 76cm ram. Off to Kyrgyzstan in September for the Ibex with Asian mountain outfitters.

Welcome to the forum, the guys above are correct, there is a TON of great information out there on the forum, both new and old. If you want my two cents worth and you want a quality public land hunt and do not want to wait to build up your preference points, I would look to Idaho or Colorado, both have some great opportunity for younger Elk, but at the same time there are plenty of mature Elk that call those lands home.
