With less than two weeks I can hardly wait. Last year my hunting partner took his first bird ever. It was with a bow, double beard 10" and 9", 1-1/2" spurs at 52yds. He makes me sick!!!
After a little turkey scouting from my front portch, i think i'm in pretty good shape for the opener. My only problem is wether or not to set up my ground blind or just us my horse for cover
Turkeys, the feathered variety I'm speaking about, are so prolific out here in California these days. It's been a pretty good success in increasing their population in the state.
I can remember in the late 1980's it was more of a challenge finding one to hunt and kill or seeing them. Now days in some of the county land or foothills it's hard not to see them strutting around, especially these days in their mating season. It's fun hunting them in this time of the season. Calling them in and hearing them gobble as they come in. It's also fun when they come in silent. Ether way it's just a fun bird to hunt. Hope all of you hunting have a great turkey season ahead.
Well.......I didn't want to post any more live turkey pics before the season opens tomorrow but just couldn't resist this one. I guess turkeys don't know what a archery target looks like..........this tom just might be in trouble tomorrow morning
