I guess not many Turkey hunters on here. I was a Diehard since the day I started in the late 80's . Quite a few in Arizona love it , down South here it's a religion. And too much private property and even people you know don't let you on their land. You guys in the west have it made with all the public land . Thats why I will come West every year to hunt and for the beauty of the Mountains .Good luck all.................BOB

I'll be going here in OR. Turkey hunting is pretty good over the last ten or fifteen years. We are actually up to a 3 spring gobbler limit and I usually can find a way to get all 3 for the most part. They make it tougher and only allow one per day bag limit :)
Turkey and spring bear are pretty popular out here!

I quit putting in for my area since 99% of the turkeys during the spring season are on private "NO HUNTING" properties.

I took a drive today and found 3 different flocks with some nice toms feeding in the pastures behind the signs.
Thats what sucks here in S. Carolina ,almost all private. Thats why I'm coming west again . I am used to getting drawn and go hunting at your honey hole. not private land. I will have some nice pictures to post in a few months. My Buddy I'm coming with is a great turkey hunter and on the board of Turkeys For Tomorrow. I have 35v years exp. myself , and gonna be fun................BOB!

Turkeys around here follow the snow line from their winter area. I look at all the mud around the cattle tanks and ponds. When I find some tracks, I start walking around the trees looking for a roost tree. The area is mostly National Forest with lots of pines and oaks. The turkeys like the big pines with lots of open branches from 10 to 20 up. There will be lots of whitish droppings under the tree on the ground. If it is fresh, they will be wet or moist, definately not dry. If the dropping are really dry they have moved on.....keep looking. I usually go back after dark to see if they are roosting in the tree. If they are, I am there just before daylight.

Our turkeys here are pretty much nomads, going where there is a food source. Lots of private land people feed them and they don't leave as long as there is food. You have to be willing to do lots of walking to locate the birds. Really hard to get permission to hunt private.

I’m going to try in Ca next week. This will be my first time solo but I’m excited to try it.
Iv'e done a lot of Solo hunts including My Goulds just 5 Miles north of Mexico. Missed one openig morning ,Shot too far too soon. Was exciting though as I got to hunt a second day. I love Solo for Turkey . ..............................BOB!
