So my brother and recently bucked up and bought a pair of the Swaroski 15 x 56 binos, now we need a good tripod system to complement them. Draw back is my wife would kill me if I told her I was buying a $500+ Outdoorsmans tripod, and personally I'm not sure I can stomach it. I'm in the midwest and will really just use the binos on my week long hunts in WY and AZ. My brother is in AZ and will use a little more often.

We thought about going with a Primos trigger stick tripod then attaching the BOG bino clamp to it. Like to hear your thoughts/opinions on that setup?

Thanks in advance! JH

Given your constraints, I'd get a moderate in cost tripod, Vortex makes a good one, among others, and use an attachment like the one below. I got the vortex bino attachment and wish I had known of this one. There are quite a few threads on tripods you can search, which is where I learned of the attachment system below.

While you can go the shooting stick route, I think you will get more out of your top end bino's with a purpose built tripod. I am sure you can find good enough ones well under $200. I'd want something designed to support about 1.5-2x the weight of the big bino's.
I've used Bog pods to shoot and stabilize 8-10 power bino's, but always use a decent tripod for my 15x bino's.

Most binos have a logo cap or some cover that comes off on the front end of the center hinge. It allows standard tripod threaded mounts to attach there. This will allow you to use the universal ball joints found at REI and those will then attach to any standard tripod plate, or shooting stick that has a camera plate.

You dont need. $500 tripod for binos...they dont usually have the magnification to justify the stability cost.
